A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex By Chris Jericho with Peter Thomas Fornatale Published by Grand Central Publishing Published on October 17, 2006 432 Pages (Hardcover) Available in Hardcover, Paperback & Kindle |
Chris Jericho considers himself to be the last of the WWE wrestlers to have racked up his fair share of frequent flyer points even before joining the company. He has wrestled for as many promotions and in as many different countries as anyone still active in the business. Jericho is also one of the most entertaining characters in WWE, whether he's playing for cheers, boos or laughs.
A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex is Chris Jericho's story of how he started out in the wrestling business in 1990 all the way to his WWF debut in 1999. It is very light-hearted in tone and many jokes are cracked throughout, making for a very enjoyable read. Unlike the majority of wrestling books, Jericho wrote the book himself, although he did have a collaborator. This comes across in the book, as he has a very distinct sense of humour.
Since the book ends with his WWF debut, you won't find much about his WWF/WWE career in this book (wait for the sequel!). However, any true fan of Chris Jericho will appreciate his stories how he started out in Calgary, eventually making his way to Mexico, Japan, SMW, ECW and WCW. Even if you're someone who doesn't read too many wrestling books, but will pick one up once in a while, this is definitely one for you. And don't be surprised if you end up reading it all in one sitting!
